If Facebook and Twitter can bring down Kadafi and Moubarak, then it can squeeze out the tyranny of Rick Scott regime also!

Out of the closets and into the palm tree lined streets!

I'm pretty sure we can find some savings in there somewhere now that the fieldday is over.

Yes, I believe we've established that you are not a child, poor, elderly, terminally ill, sick, unemployed, or a student. Therefore you can probably afford the budget cuts, those listed though are probably going to take a beating.

Did you notice the growth in that graph? Our social services, education system, and general government spending growth haven't been getting squeezed over the last eight years. Especially education spending which has seen dramtic increases over the last four years under Charlie Crist. I'm sure the system has slack that can be reeled in without bringing the poor starving masses to their knees.

I can't find an imbedable graph, but do you think those things rising could be based on a growing population and not wild spending?

No.

17.6% population growth over the last decade, while state spending increased from 82 billion to over 160 billion.

I'd like to invite those that research things to visit those links. I'm still looking for the 160 billion dollar figure you quote and oddly this link shows that the budget was actually 51 billion for fiscal year 2000-2001 with a dip in 2001-2002 due to the line item veto.

From what I can tell the Florida State budget has gone from 51 billion in 2000 to 70.4 billion in 2011.

To put all that in layman's terms, you lied, but nice try at showing a 50% budget increase over ten years, it's actually around 28%. Not bad for a state that gets kicked by major hurricanes on a regular basis and houses the nations elderly.

The florida budget is just part of it. I can post a graph of just that. For state spending, see..

Which is the same graph I posted above which you ignored. I haven't lied about squat, you however, are ignoring the truth.

BTW, our state budget went from 51 billion in 2000-2001 to 73 billion in 2007-2008. That's a 42% increase vs. population increases of less that 17.6%. From 2000-2001 to 2010-2011 using Scott's proposed budget the increase is 29.3%.

edit, actually that was the second year budget number, the increase to the first year is 29.3% over the last decade, to the second it's 24% based on Scott's proposed two year budget.

Edited

Despite all the excesses over the last few years, you want even more money? Good luck with that.

No. I am a semi-retired design consultant for the Marriott Corp. "Us" is a term for us forward thinking and leaning Panhandle folks who want to support the state workers in the dying middle class!

I love it--the 60's protest movement is back!
