Glenn Beck is many things but he is not hard news (nor does he generally attempt to be). And considering the nature of the news, perhaps it's not entirely surprising that viewers were clicking away for a while. Sometimes it's nice to be told the world is not ending.

Every dog has its day. Everything goes in cycles. America is still being dumbed down no matter who has good ratings or who has falling ratings in the world of infotainment 'news'.

My guess (dare I say hope) is that the combo of the Gifford shooting, the snow storms, and other January events gave people better things to do and more respect for REAL news and civil discourse.

Obama's non-political and reassuring behavior at the memorial also made some reconsider the lies being told about him/their opinions.

I am sure Beck's ratings drop was also helped by Palin being an idiot about Arizona - and those on the right like Huckabee denouncing anyone who tried to politicize the event.

You don't turn to the court jester in a crisis - you want someone reliable you can trust.

Would be interesting to see if ratings for "real" journalists who actually report the news went up to either dismiss or validate this idea.

Speakin of tinfoil, I had an interesting run in with a person who was setting my mom up with some medical equipment before she got out of the hospital last week. Was talkin bout angels coming from other planets and the Illuminati and how the big change was coming. And there I was, fresh out of tinfoil :idontno: I needed a dislike button for that.
