Burn Ban in Effect for Walton County

Effective Monday, April 20, 2026.

Due to ongoing dry conditions, low humidity, and gusty winds, a countywide Burn Ban is now in effect. Meaning:

No open burning of any kind
No campfires or bonfires
No burning yard debris, trash, or construction materials
No fireworks
✅ Cooking is allowed only in contained gas or charcoal grills.

Residents should:

✅ Avoid yardwork involving small engines
✅ Parking vehicles on grassy areas
✅ Report any burning to local authorities
✅ Follow verified sources for the latest fire conditions.

The Walton Fire Council and its Advisory Committee will be assessing conditions daily and the ban will stay in place until conditions improve. Remember: Violations may result in fines or other penalties, enforced by Walton County Sheriff's Office, Florida and Office of the City Marshal, DeFuniak Springs Police.

With current fire weather conditions, even a small spark can quickly turn into a dangerous wildfire. This is about protecting our people, homes, and natural resources. Spread the word and do your part! Skip the burn, stay informed, and report any unauthorized burning to local officials.
