Actually we're going to just talk about the Oligocene regression from my paper on the History of South Walton Real Estate. Here's the quote
"This quartz traveled down from the Appalachian Mountains and watershed thousands of years ago. A scientific explanation is: "Late Oligocene regression...was responsible for major changes in the depositional history and development of the Florida Platform.... The Georgia Channel System stopped intercepting the siliciclastic sediments, and since the latest Oligocene the depositional environment of the two platforms have been significantly different. The Bahamas Platform persisted as a carbonate bank, while the Florida Platform was increasingly dominated by siliciclastics." Quote from Anthony F. Randazzo and Douglas S. Jones, eds. The Geology of Florida (Gainesville: University Press of Florida, 1997), 61.

I knew that. :floor::floor::floor:
Seriously, thanks DL. I love this stuff!

I actually went to go get one night cap glass of Chardonnay.

:clap:

Of course. Everyone knows there was a really big epic event that caused the quartz (siliciclastics)(which is our pure white sand) to come down from the Appalachian Mountains and make the most perfect beaches in Northwest Florida.

Tell us more.

Now, as all great story tellers say, that will have to wait until another day. I'm off to veg out watching the Dallas Cowboys. Oops. They just won. Anyway, need to check out for tonight. Maybe I'll just ask ya'll to help me edit a book on all this. Nighty, Night.
