Fall Break 2026 - Prepare for the October Boom

Some school district in the not very distant past created Fall Break and it snowballed. It can sometimes be as busy as Spring Break.

Remember when October was one of the quietest, coolest, enjoyable months? Although even before Fall Break October became packed with "shoulder" events to entice visitors.

FYI Looking at Louisville KY. I assumed public schools, JCPS, but it looks more like University of Louisville schedule. The private/parochial schools follow JCPS schedule and Fall Break will be Sat. Sept 26 to Sun. Oct. 4. The private/parochial schools select a certain area on 30A for each school to stay together. Heard that years ago from a co-worker. The schools' 2007 Spring break is Fri. March 26 - Sun April 4. (We did follow the Spring school breaks. Fall breaks began after my husband retired from teaching. We did visit during the grandchildren's fall break but no more. The families go on cruises now. Not us.) Ellen

Hey, I'll say it. Money is not many locals first concern. We love the beach the Gulf the forests and parks. We want a high quality of life. I see comments from tourists that without them we would have no economy and suffer. Not true.
