The Walton County Tea Party Patriots are hosting a "Freedom Rally" on Saturday, April 17th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in DeFuniak Springs. The Rally will be located in front of Walton Cycles, on Hwy. 90 West (from 331 N, turn left onto Hwy 90 and Walton Cycles is about 3/4 mile on the right).

Bring your posters (no ugly language), flags, folding chairs and your Patriotic spirit as we gather to voice our concerns about the direction our country is heading. We will have several speakers talking about issues that are of great concern. Mike Hill, a candidate for State Senate, will be our guest speaker. We will also have "Open-Mike" time for anyone to express their concerns.

There will be a voter registration table to assist Walton Co. citizens. We will be handing out FREE Constitution booklets, FREE American Flags and FREE ICED TEA!

If you have questions about what the Tea Party Movement is all about or if you are concerned about the changes taking place in our country, please attend. Take the time to find out that we are average citizens, who are peacefully trying to return our country to its former ideals of Consitutional government, Christian values, smaller government, lower taxes and less government intrusion into our everyday lives.

WE ARE A NON-PARTISAN GROUP AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

Please go to our website at www.waltoncountypatriots.tcoinc.com for additional information about our organization.

Let us hope so. The Tea Partiers are anything but McVeigh's. I lived in Edmond, OK at the time of the bombing and I am familiar with the backround presented in the Daily Oklahoman and other news media. Our nation has always had more than its share of violence but the Tea Party Movement is not a part of that heritage.
It is time for me to leave and let my voice peacefully be heard. Once again, all are cordially invited.

Pastor Stan Craig of Choice Hills Baptist Church said that he was prepared to, ?suit up, get my gun, go to Washington, and do what they trained me to do.?

April 17, 2010 Greenville South Carolina Tea Party......

I'm curious who "they" are? Perhaps God's warrior angels?:D

BTW...I haven't seen any news on the Walton County gathering....can you provide us an update?

The Herald/Breeze had a reporter there and will have an article out on it in this week's edition.

Will be interested to read the coverage - both the person who started this thread and the one who wrote an editorial to the Herald inviting everyone to this event started out okay (and had me mildly interested in their event) and then turned into raving loons.

Though I got a huge kick out of the editorial - they managed to go from "This is a non-partisan event and we don't want it pigeonholed/dismissed because of a fringe element" to "they are going to require us to have national ID cards to get jobs and we'll have bar codes on the back of our hands" in a few paragraphs with no discernible sense of irony.

Should I tell them my government issued photo ID for border crossing has a microchip in it to better track me?

The turn out number wise was certainly less than hoped for but the enthusiasm of those attending was great. The main speaker was Mike Hill, candidate for the Florida house from I think Dist. 7. Anyway, the area North of the bay.
He is a small business owner, Air Force Academy graduate and for doing what his constituents want. He dislikes hypenated ethnic names such as African-American. In fact, he hates them. Says he is an "American" and nothing else. He is black. I only wish I could vote for him.

Thanks Scooter and AA for the complete overview of the party.

It would have been interesting to hear from Mike Hill. I agree with his opinion of titles. In fact, if I was king of America (hehe), I would do away with parties and require folks to run on THEIR own platform. But that's not going to happen. Too much money being pushed to the parties.

Shame that no one videotaped the "loon". That would have been "special".....

Thanks again for the report.

Since I don't see fit to take the Beach Breeze/Herald any longer, I am unaware of the editorial of which you speak. I'll say this. The meeting was small, probably due partially to all that was going on Saturday, enthusiastic, informative (one CPA had a lot to say about the "tax cuts" and what they really are. If I understood her correctly it appears many are tax credits returned to people who paid no taxes in the first place.)
I know nothing about national ID cards and they were cetainly not mentioned in the presentations. BTW, I carry an ID card every day and have never found it to be a detrement in any way.
There were several speakers and an "open mike" period for those who had something they would like to say to the group. It was really a violent, out of control revolt.:sarc:

I thought we already had a national id card. Its called a social security card? :idontno: I swear, people will get upset over anything. I look forward to reading the article in the Herald. Perhaps they caught pictures of Andy overturning cars....again! ;-)

Just to clarify slightly, the opinion piece referred to in this thread was a letter to the editor.

I know I have several - driver's license (issued by a state but used by law enforcement and security nationwide and for interstate travel), passport, and Social Security.

Having lived where you have to register with the police upon arrival, are supposed to carry those registration papers with you 24/7, and the homeless guy living in the alley is there because he had his papers stolen and is in bureaucratic limbo, I have much bigger concerns than an ID card - especially when one from the US is basically a golden ticket abroad.

Maybe Aleo can get us a link for the letter to the editor - my paper already got pitched. My guess is that if they had left off the last half most of Sowal would agree with what they were saying.....................but they kept talking.

Sorry, DI. I am really not that strong ANY longer.:D Besides, now I am starting a revolt against the FDA. Now they want to tell food manufacturers how much salt they can put it their product. I happen to like salt especially at my ripe old age where my taste buds are deteriorating. (I think this is known as a thread hijack, so back to the subject at hand.)

Well, there is a simple solution to your quandary Andy! Just take your food down to the beach and dip it into the ocean every other bite and you should find the precious salt quantities are replenished! The added ambience of the waves and nature should be considered a perk. ;-)

So is this the end of pickles or bacon then?

(Hmmmm pickle bootlegging could become quite a lucrative hobby)

The FDA working with food manufacturers to slowly reduce the amount of sodium over a 10 year time period is not palate Armageddon.

Merely reducing our salt intake by 1/2 (aka getting it close to the maximum recommended) would save 150,000 lives a year.

In other news, the MILITARY is jumping into the fray on school lunches/proper nutrition because more than 25% of their recruiting pool is too fat to serve.

Well, mine ain't one of them! Let the government leave me alone to die in my own time and any way God intends for me to do so.

Not to continue the hijack, but my epitaph on my headstone is going to read...

"Here lies the body of Singinchicken
He may have died young
But his food tasted good"

I need my salt!

"Pickle bootlegging" sounds like it belongs in the urban dictionary.

.:sarc:

Glad she's not my CPA.

The tax cuts in the stimulus bill reduced our tax burden over $1200.

BTW, we wrote a check for our estimated 2011 liability.

Getting back on thread:

I hardly ever use salt but if they ban hot sauce...guess I'll have to grow my own.

Silly Aleo! Logic and facts have nothing to do with this discussion!

I would bet that 95% of Sowal wouldn't notice a taste difference in any food items - it's all perception/marketing. One of the ways they make a "low sodium" item that tastes the same/better is to use salt or sea salt instead of various additives & preservatives.
