When Palin’s memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life,” hits bookstores on Nov. 17, it will face competition from OR Books’ “Going Rouge: An American Nightmare,” being released the same day.
The anti-Palin book, compiled by Richard Kim and Betsy Reed, senior editors at the left-leaning The Nation magazine, claims to offer up “the real Palin.”
Though the cover of “Going Rouge” is clearly a parody of Palin’s memoir, the book is not, the editors say, pointing to the caliber of writers included in it. Among the book’s contributors are Hanna Rosin, contributing editor at The Atlantic; historian Rick Perlstein; iconic feminist Gloria Steinem and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich.

Playgirl is actually using Levi to RELAUNCH its dead-tree edition, and David Gergen estimates Palin will ultimately stand to earn $10 million between book sales and speaking fees. And Bristol is at home on the compound, covered in spitup. I would be so incredibly angry. I hope that she is getting some payola - she deserves it. It likely has strings attached.
Bristol is at least partially responsible for the situation she is in, it's just that the way things have unfolded have made things more difficult than they need be. I'm beginning to agree that it was irresponsible for Sarah to accept VP selection. I was always on the fence about that, until now. Republicans should be upset too, if not for Palin, McCain might be president.

While at this juncture in time, I don't support her for president, how can you say you are afraid of the masses who support her for president when you consider the "masses" that continue to elect many who have no use for our present form of government and would gladly socialize every aspect of our being. Are you also fearful of many, many others who would destroy our way of life as it now is? The masses that support Sarah Palin are people with whom you don't agree. They are Americans just like you, nothing more, nothing less.

... Terrible material for entertainment, IMO. not just because Palin isn't my favorite woman in America, but because seeing/hearing all aobut the trashy stuff in someone's life doesn't appeal to me in the least. yuck.

BTW, regarding my military retirement check being "socialist", Bob. Really the ultimate in CHEAP SHOT. In my eye, there is a distinct difference between a military retirement check and a welfare check.

Anyone else catch Geraldine Ferraro on Fox news last night discussing it? She made some very good points and pretty effectively said Palin was done - the book was tacky and her opinions in it would alienate the conservative base she is supposed to appeal to.

If one is receiving retired military pay or, in most cases, disability pay for military service, it is well deserved and has been paid for already by the recipient. Look at how the military is structured, and there are some stongly socialist elements to it- how health care is delivered, the entire commissary system, how housing allowances are calculated based on rank and family size... It's blatantly there.
If someone chooses to hear socialism as some sort of slam, it's their issue. Me, when I hear first world socialism, I tend to think of places like Sweden and Denmark, which tend to rank very, very highly in world studies on quality of life. I'd far rather live in Stockholm than a lot of allegedly more capitalist countries out there.
