"Trees are up and the stockings are hung, but no presents under the tree. Is it just me, or is everyone getting harder to buy for?"
...quote from dbuck on another Lounge thread (THANKS for the Question!)
So who's the achilles heel on your holiday shopping list? The person who has everything or the person who says s/he doesn't want anything? And are you a last minute shopper, scurrying only hours before the shops close for the last deal? Or are your presents already 99% wrapped?
And what's your take on holiday shopping? Dream come true OR Wake me up when it's over?
I'm not even going to ask about holiday cards... :floor:

I like the new avatar Mermaid! But the hardest would be my oldest sister, I dont know why but things just dont look like her, or maybe it is because she is so glamorous, nothing in my budget looks like her!!!! But we draw names every year, so MAYBE I dont have to buy for her, or maybe I do!!! ;-)

My DH....this is our 17th Christmas...what do you get someone after that many years??? To make things worse, our anniversary is this Wednesday...AND his birthday is in January. It is tough. I have a couple of ideas.

I am last minute ALWAY'S...and every year I say I am going to get better, but I never do.

i think our parents are the hardest ones to buy for - i have resorted to money and gift certificates. i guess i could do them like i do my nephew - and just buy everything ! i have this problem of getting him everything i see, i love that little booger sooooooo much, and he is soooooooo spoiled by his aunt audie.
Hi Steeleing4! Nice to see you around!
Merman is my hardest to buy for. He is an engineer so I don't understand anything that he likes. I'm useless around power tools and computers and anything of a mechanical nature. Plus they make me yawn. :funn:
So what I give him is "permission." It's his favorite thing ever.
You know, permission to get his own *(&)*& gift. 😀

KD, what is a "DH"?
KD, what is a "DH"?
Technically, it stands for "darling husband" but this time of year it could stand for "damm husband" as well. Depending on if he comes through with the Christmas pressies! ;-)

My MIL. But all males are hard to buy for.
I have a great stocking stuffer idea. Tide-To-Go pen. They really work. I dribbled coffee on my off white sweater the other day, didn't have time to go home and change, ran into Wally World and bought one of these, hoping for the best. They really work, so now everyone I know is going to get one for Christmas. Great for men to keep in their briefcase too. :clap_1: I love things that work as advertised. 😀

My parents and my sister. Although I am very close to them, one would think that this would make it easier to buy gifts for them. However, it is very hard to buy for someone that you are really close to because you look at each potential gift, and criticise it highly. I ask them what they want and I get, "oh you do not have to get me anything," or "I do not know." So this year its a sweater for dad, some kitchen gadgets from Williams-Sonoma for mom (favorite store), and a sweater for sis. I was able to pry out of them, what they really wanted.

I guess that would be Mr. Kitty. He is always so generous and unique in his gift giving that I always feel he gets the short end. He wants a new smoker...I think he called it an "egg"? Maybe I could surprise him with a lot at Alys Beach this year! HA!
P.S. I am thinking of buying a treadmill or eliptical for him. Anyone have pros/cons for them? Good brands vs brands to avoid?

Get him a Green Egg, Sueshore! My brother has one and it is so good it would turn a hard-core vegetarian into a meat-eater. No Joke! Pork chops in the Egg are incredible...yummmmmmmmmmm

Although I am not on my own Christmas list, I am probably very difficult to buy for. I have everything I want or need, I try to be a minimalist, and I hate the idea of giving because you "have to." The coolest gifts I receive are things that are personal and meaningful, if only in thought, to the person(s) giving them. One of my most treasured gifts was a poem written by a friend. I would take a drawing, poem, or a hand written note, or thought over any material gift every day of the week.

I agree, man. Although I do appreciate some things. But I am so particular about things that I'm probably a real nightmare to shop for. Unless its a new fishing rod. There's always success there.

And it doesn't surprise me at all that you would say that SJ. How kind of you. I wish everyone would think like you do. The world would be a happier less frantic place this time of the year!
