We are doin it now.
cleaning out the garage...
throwing away stuff
firing up the generator
assessing our water/food/gas/propane supply
making a list
Houston we are ready....:D

Glad we did cancel as we would have been coming in there today only to have to evacuate after a couple of days, if it indeed does hit that area. Sorry for the ones living there though.

Yeah, I'm gonna turn off icemakers (melted ice from no power equals ruined wood floors) at my house and my sister's, empty out her refrigerator (ours is empty since we rent, but hers is full since she doesn't), secure the outdoor furniture and stuff at her house and mine, and be on ready for boarding up.

And I had planned on relaxing at the beach for a week.:bang:

I am so sorry to hear of everyone's worries and impending work and stress (& vacation cancellations). Will be thinking of you all thru the week. My brother lives in Mobile. It took weeks to find him after Katrina. He never evacuates. Always rides them out. Not too smart but he's a thrill-seeker. :dunno::blush:

Keep us posted as this progresses, that is, if you have the time. If anything, just to be able to vent somewhere!

I am already feeling :puke:.Time to start backing up files. The Blood Mobile comes to town on Tuesday, so I guess I will have to prepare before then, just in case, because they don't want you doing any strenuous work after giving blood. For everyone who can give in the area, please remember to do so, if you are still in town on Tuesday. -- Sacred Heart Hospital from 11a-6pm Blood Mobile. I am preparing that Atlanta vacation, where I will eat some good food, go to the GA Aquarium, etc. Where did that Atlanta evac. restaurant list run off to?

I wonder if the Tax Commissioner will extend the appeals period???

Some of you should head on over to Athens, and pay me a visit. There are awesome restaurants here, like Last Resort Grille. I need a break from the books.

Seriously....I certainly hope everyone takes down all the "For Sale," realtor signs and political signs!

I think that usually, rather than driving around burning up the valuable fuel in the days just prior to the storm's approach, most companies leave their signs posted, and they can become flying missles.

In that case, given the current market conditions, I'd say the chances that the "For Sale" missiles will damage another house that is for sale is probably pretty good.

On my street, if they're not down 24-hours out, I'm going to fire up my chain saw and take care of the situation myself. ;-)

Michigan but someday in SoWal as well
If there's an evacuation, when do you expect people will have to evacuate? In other words, when is the hurricane expected to hit if it does hit our area? Sigh...

As always, I'll be thinking of those of you who live there and wishing you safety and no damage!

Anyway, there's still time for the hurricane to fizzle out...
