Is Sowal Ready for Full time Yankees?

New posts
Great!!

Having been born and raised in the NY/NJ metro area you'll have to make a few changes, know a few new things...such as:

1. There is no such thing as doing anything "in a Sowal" minute. (more like in a Sowal day!).

2. The water next to 30A is the "gulf," not the "shore."

3. If some asked you to "crack" the window, they want you to open it slightly, not break it.

You'all c'mon
you crack me up!!!!:floor:

Welcome to the club of new residents!:wave::wub:

I'm no expert, but I wonder if your light-up snowman would really be happy in Florida...;-)

Free Frosty, Free Frosty. :floor:Can't I set a trend on 30A with light up Frosty's on the roof?
(Xmas with the Cranks)

Y'all is an interesting contraction that has quietly become a word.

I have a friend in Australia who uses y'all and doesn't even realize he uses it. It serves a useful purpose as third person plural. Is that right? Any English teachers here?

Anyway, it is tough for NYorkers to move to the South because they have to unlearn "youse guys".

just catching up around here and this is the first thread I've seen in over a week. mangy - it is really exciting news. however, I will miss having a friend in New York - one of the places high on my list for visiting more, especially NYC. but I know there comes a time when change is what is needed for many reasons. You and the MANgo will have a great time going wherever you decide to go.

and for the record - Mr. Frosty the Snowman is welcome in Sowal, and any damn where in the south. who says we don't have plastic light up snowmen around here? we surely do! there must be an entire population of Frosty Snowmen and women all the way from sowal to sobeach. I almost bought one myself last year but thought it would be a waste sitting in the woods where he wouldn't be seen. but I think I need one anyway. if you don't want it, send it to me!

You can keep the washer at my house and visit it whenever you feel the need to iron!

Snowman is welcome too, but will only be displayed in YOUR yard!

 Yes, and in New York, it's Yo, you guys!

 It's all clear now. Y'all are cracking me up with the ironing and all. Thank you for that, because I really need the laughs.

Right now MANgo and I are doing some prep work to put our house on the market. So, reality is setting in and it's all exciting, but bittersweet at the same time. I know :violin: but, we've never lived outside of New York, and there are career changes involved too. I also have family here. We think they may follow suit eventually, not Sowal, but driving range. This is important because I have been in Sowal and could have stayed longer, but rushed back home when I got a call from nephew upset because he mistook the day I was coming home to meet him on the school bus. (ask Tootsie)

Something tells me this is all going to work out just fine and it's "the time", but when MANgo told me he didn't think I could take my Kett car and ride it down the bike path, or my stainless steel washer, or my light up snowman, I cried.

I fell in love with Sowal the minute I laid eyes on it and felt at home. I know we will be coming "home" to a warm, welcoming community, and it's not like we will be moving somewhere we do not know a soul. For that I am forever grateful to this site.

I will keep y'all updated with what's cooking, and all the other crap I have to leave behind.

You can bring the light up snowman south just tell everyone it's a light up sandman. :idontno: You can leave your iron too, just do like I do, take everything to the cleaners.

We can go to NYC anytime, I have an apartment we can us. Roadtrip!

Unfortunately Frosty can only be displayed in the yard of a home on wheels.

Seriously though we could have a light up plastic christmas decor exchange. I used to have one of those giant 3 foot candles.

Forgot the other word I thought of is "toe", it's a drinkin' word as in:

"She was so toe up, she fell down the steps at B&A's."

Heck, the light-up snowman will fit right in. How many homes do I see in the South at Christmas time that look like the occupants went to Wal-Mart and bought every big lighted yard ornament they could possibly find. I think it's hilarious and festive. Actually I have threatened to do this to shock my snobby neighbors.

Here's another thing that you must get used to in the South, Mangy. When we refer to a soft drink which in other parts of the country is referred to as soda or pop, we call it a Coke, even if it's a Pepsi or some other soft drink. ;-)

Mangy, it's so exciting about your move.
