I agree. I am not sure his statement was racist. but given his background... and also given "white denial" about racism (nothing new there) - I am not completely convinced. either way, he was an ass.
So no one on the left has ever disrespected the office of George W. Bush? Puhlease! If America is so racist how did we end up with a black president? Will racism always exist unfortunately yes on all sides of the fence...White / Black, Black / White, Muslim / Christian, etc. I don't believe that not agreeing with someone's political agenda makes anyone a racist. Insinuating that people are racist if they don't agree with the Presidents politics is a scare tactic. Isn't that what the left was crying about the right? Jimmy's rant scared me.

we ended up with obama because of the catastrophic presidency of gw combined with maccain's lackluster campaign and nightmare selection of palin to appease the bible rednecks
he doesn't have a racist[rebel flag love] bone in his body....it's all cartilage.
no first we'd cover the racism and fear mongering, moving on to tax cuts for the wealthy with a brief pause at deficit spending. then we would proceed to lying about global warming, torture, and weapons of mass destruction, followed by the wasteful creation of another department[homestyle security] of government. concluding we would examine the massive gift of billions to wall street, the complete inaction on any healthcare reform and then conclude with sexism. it was all hard work!

I have family, "God love 'em" "Bless their hearts" and all that who do not want Obama as president and I know it is because he is black. "They're taking over our country". He could have programs & policies that they would never accept because it came from his administration.
They have had little exposure to other cultures or even many blacks. It is a rather homogenous area. There is a level of fear that might not exist if they had, or took, the opportunity to travel and experience other people and places. I think there are lots of areas of our country that lack the diversity which allows kids to grow up understanding those of different races better. It can go far to help with the racist attitudes and hate that exists in some people.
There are posters on this board who oppose many of the administration's policies, but I get no impression that it is for any reason of race, then there are others who simply exude bigotry and it makes me sick to read.
