I think it is. Here in Indiana we grow a lot of cows and corn. One of the great engineering colleges in the US, Purdue, also has a great agricultural program. *Purdue's in Indiana, up the road from us" One of our good friends had us laughing on the floor when he told us about his college years at Purdue. He didn't know what he wanted to major in, so he tried everything. The bit about cow insemination finished him off completely about having anything to do with farming in Indiana!! He said he almost flunked that class after to having to shove his hand up a cow's you-know-what. He's a mortgage broker now and he's very happy.

tangent alert, mermy my bro-in-law graduated from the purdue agri program. my sis graduated with a teaching degree, and mr audie went there for pharmacy. needless to say we're a family of boilermakers.

It looks like someone, or something, is having funn laying pipe, literally. That is a pipe isn't it? Actually, this was one of the jobs on the tv show, "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe," but I have seen much much worterester jobs on that that show, like when he has to shove his entire arm up the cows' rectums to see if they are pregnant.

I've done this to a horse. You do get to a wear a giant plastic glove/sleeve though. And you throw it away when you are finished.:shock: Long arms are helpful.

O.K. sad that I know this, but hubby is a vet . . . The arm (up to the shoulder) does go into the rectum. From the rectum, the vet can palpate the uterus to feel if there is a fetus inside and therefore confirm pregnancy. Going into the obvious place doesn't work--can't palpate effectively, risk of infection, miscarriage, etc.

By-the-way, horse stud farms in Kentucky make millions with their stallions "servicing" mares for a fee. It isn't such a bad business.

The black pipe with the pipe stripe is High-Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) pipe. It can be used to carry a variety of liquids and slurries. The color stripe is the a code that indicates the intended use. It is very durable and once the lengths of pipe are fused together it is for all purposes one continuous pipe.

The green pipe on the stands is carbon steel pipe used to carry high pressure natural gas. it is on the stands because it has to be welded together. The areas of bare metal are then coated in the green covering like the rest of the pipe to prevent corrosion. Once you get to low pressure pipe like in a subdivision or other development it is a yellow plastic pipe.
