I needed to start this thread for a bit of pity and a momentary wallow in my misery.

:violin:

For six rental seasons, I have done the same thing. I arrive to our place and do the bi-annual change out of slipcovers. Washed the Summer covers, put them up and put on the Fall covers, which had been washed last Spring.

Mr. K calls me last night and says we got a bill for the deep clean. Fine, good. Then he read me the ridiculous amount they have charged us for DRY CLEANING all the slipcovers!!!! We even were charged for "upholstery cleaning" the outdoor cushions, which I always wash! So, I just washed slipcovers that were recently drycleaned (I told them to never do this). :bang:

Thank you...I feel better. I will be having a meeting today. :biggrin:

Hubby keeps a wrench for me by the water meter at the street for the sprinkler system. Then he had a cutoff installed in the house for the house water line so I wouldn't have to go all the way to the street (potentially at night) to cut that off in an emergency. We've had many water emergencies (had polybutylene pipe -- Shell Oil paid for the entire house to be replumbed -- so far, so good).

Our neighbor is a contractor. He recommends turning your water off when you are out of town because of all of the water emergencies he's seen. He says he always turns his off. We turn off the gas, too, because you never know when it could spring a leak.

Glad Mr. K. was there so you didn't have to take care of it all by yourself.:wave:

Oh god I hate polybutylene, shudder, it makes for some horrible experiences in rental management. A lot of condos down here are infested with that crap because the condo board at the time decided to build an elevator or put in a pool with the settlement money. :bang:

You're kidding! They didn't replace it? OMC I can't tell you how many times we heard a loud noise and found water rushing out of the ceiling or down a wall!:eek: We had the plumbing replaced with copper (works with the water around here).

Not so much a rant as utter disbelief

So your wife has just suddenly lost a family member, is frantically trying to fly cross country for the funeral and to help out the widow w/ three traumatized kids and the one thing she asks you to do is help her figure out her plane ticket/bereavement fare ........................ and you can't take the time away from your GOLF GAME to do so! :angry:

Nope dead serious, many of the condos and townhomes around here are still infested with this crap. Some are taking the initiative and replacing it, at a much greater cost to the owners.

Going to Best Buy to buy a new computer and printer. Stand around for 15 minutes or so. no help at all. Others are standing around. :angry: FTLOC! Needless to say, I left. Went to Sams, in and out in a jif. :wave:

No...all property was returned, so no longer tying up tax dollars trying to figure out whodunit.

I wish that someone would start a consolidated thread titled It's All About Me instead of seperate threads begging for friends, begging for reps, or telling us every time their pet takes a sheet or they get a new PM.

I've heard people around the globe talk about how horrific the traffic in Atlanta is. And, I just never experience it - I live in town, play in town, work, do I work?

Anyway, I had this all day meeting off site - way down by the airport. I scoot out early at 3:45 and should have been home by 4:05 at the latest.

Traffic was completely stopped! All 6 or 7 lanes going north, completely stopped. How frustrating! I don't know how people do that two times per day - and, now I understand why they are so miserable!

It was painful at best~~~~~~~~that's my rant! How's the traffic in your hood?

The traffic in our hood as is bad as you described, I avoid it like the plague. I go counter to it and take the sides streets. Life is too short to sit in a traffic jam.

I only got really stuck once or twice when I lived in Atlanta*, so I didn't think it was so bad.

Then I moved out of Atlanta and realized how awesome it is not to be in Atlanta traffic anymore!


*Halloween 1996: 3 hour round-trip from Abernathy Road at GA400 to Clairmont off I-85. :bang:

Traffic?

There was a piece of construction equipment in the road today at Seaside - added almost 5 minutes to my drive along the scenic highway w/ the views of parks and coastal dune lakes when I cut through the town so attractive it was used as a movie set to avoid it. :biggrin:

I just woke up from a gruesome nightmare that involved a woman selling babies on SoWal.com...so icky that it took a full five minutes for me to stop being scared just so I could move. I think I'm gonna watch a movie now. Too tired to rant about it!

My thought exactly. I've had nightmares before, but I've never been terrified like I just was. I don't have a lock on my bedroom door, and I'm seriously thinking of putting one on it tomorrow (puck--I mean today!) to make myself feel better.

When I was in college I was able to rationalize myself out of fear. Now there are too many crazy people (or people on meth) to allow that. I can't tell myself that there is no reason for someone to be standing in the hallway outside my bedroom at 4 a.m...

This is just a little rant but it is really early in the AM and hardly anyone is logged on so here goes- I NEED TO BE ASLEEP AND CAN'T! WOKEUP AT 4AM AND CAN"T GET BACK TO SLEEP! HAVE LOTS OF COMPANY COMING LATER TODAY FOR BBQ AND WILL BE A ZOMBIE! ok, little better....:sleeping:
