I don't understand - his staff members are not supposed to lobby anyone during his term and for one year after?

Pretty sad that following the law and being ethical is something that has to be emphasized and spelled out, but kudos to him for trying.

What a tool, I don't care what political persuasion you might hail from, this guy reeks of scandal.

Here's a link to the actual document:

http://www.scotttransition.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Scott-Code-of-Ethics-FINAL.pdf

I find it interesting that someone who ran on a smaller government and tax savings platform is making his entire transition team sign something that is completely redundant.

BTW, scooterbug it's not after his term, it's only one year after he's transitioned to office so they still have 3 years of his term to get in trouble. I can't believe the pomp and circumstance surrounding this, it's normally done without near this press. I'm sure we'll see countless press releases as he oozes into office.

Why would any individual (and in this case an unrepentant felon) spend $50,000,000.00 of their own personal money on a campaign to get a job that pays only about 135,000 per year? :idontno:...

Or does Rick Scott have a plan to steal the money back from us Floridians in someway, maybe even doubling it?

This is actually a serious question?

The figure I heard was $74 million dollars he spent on his campaign. It's hard to comprehend what his motives are, but it sure is scary to me.

This is about revenge, he's got his Nixon revenge list ready.

Actually closer to 74 million. My only thoughts are when you gather up so much money that there is no way that you can spend it in some sort of a normal fashion, it must take on a lower value. At least perceived.

I read this morning he is also a proponent of
open carry'. Yahoo, the tourist are going to be shocked when they get here and we are all strapped.

If you look at this guy's history, you'll realize he's driven himself to accomplish great things all his life. His run for governor is the continuation of that.

As far as the spending goes, I don't think it's fiscal economies of scale. You have to include personal achievement as received value.

Your theory, about gaining fabulous sums of money and it losing its relative value, is very interesting. If somebody could just give me a fabulous sum of money, I could let y'all know if that theory holds up...

Stealing Medicare money (our tax dollars) is accomplishing great things? You're delusional. And don't give us the crap that he didn't know about it. If so, he wasn't much of a CEO, was he?

Never indicted, never convicted, never questioned about the medicare thing. Just a false issue put forth by the liberal media and unions in an effort to keep a good man down.

That's the latest investigation - the one where he made most of his money and set a record for fraud was earlier and as WR points out he was never convicted (just left the company as part of the deal).

I have taken the fifth when asked about something in the past. It is another one of those pesky Constitutional rights that the liberal media seems to have a problem with.

Why did you take the Fifth? Most people take it because to answer the question would tend to incriminate themselves. In other words, there is virtually no way that taking the fifth doesn't imply that you were a part of a crime. If there is another way to see this, please explain it to me.

The company, that he was the CEO of, was indicted, and convicted (or at least settled for the biggest fraud penalty in US history). By rationalizing this away, you are pretty well blowing any credibility you think you might have had. Republicans seem to be able to rationalize anything as long as they make their money.

As someone who has also taken the fifth it doesn't always mean someone is guilty. The answer could cause you to be convicted of another crime that isn't even in question. On the other hand the answer could simply sound wrong and allow you to be convicted.

Having said that, Rick Scott is scum and that will become very apparent during his one term.

I was speaking about his professional history in general. Started off in public housing, military, private sector success, built up a fortune by building a number of very successful companies, etc.. This speaks volumes about what drives him.

A previous poster implied he was running for governor/spending his own money in an effort to reap financial gain. I think that view is misguided. His history shows he's driven by other forces.
