Dylan and his friend Spencer.

Dylan getting ready to go down again.

The walkway you're supposed to use after going down the hill. I was getting so frustrated by kids that weren't using it. Just a big accident waiting to happen. I saw enough near misses like it was. Who though sledding could be so stressful.

The boys found an alternate route when using the far side of the hill.

Wiped out!

The Scioto River is at the bottom of this hill.

This is Scioto Park but we always call it Leatherlips park b/c of the statue.

Leatherlips was an wyandot indian that was actually buried on the land that is now the Muirfield Golf Course (Jack Nicklaus). Home the Memorial Golf Tournament. Legend has it that:Chief Leatherlips makes it rain every year on the Tournament.

Thanks for showing us all the pics, Ocean Lover!! We had an absolutely wonderful hill over at Butler University. It was double precious to us because you know Indianapolis is as flat as a pancake. ;-) Good sledding hills are few and far between. But then Butler flattened the hill to make way for new upperclassmen dorms and all our funn sledding is only a distant memory. :(

About Leatherlips--in Boston, on the Charles River where they hold the outdoor concerts in the Half Shell, there's a very similar statue of the late, great conductor Arthur Fiedler, he of the Boston Pops.

We still have a few hills left around here. Bummer about your Butler hill. :(
I think the statue is really cool..I thought it was an original. Like our field of corn in Dublin.
