okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

Hey Darlene,
Come to my Yoga class.......that will get your exercise program into action......step your little feet inside my iron gate and come through the front door and then you don't have to think about it again.....I will do the rest of the work taking you through 90 minutes of breathing, streatching, wiggling your little body all around.....you will feel fabulous when you leave and proud you did something for the day........Just a suggestion??

this doesn't even count - it could be water fluctuation or whatever. yes, I've discovered that I get good results when exercising at least twice a week, because when I take the time to do this, it makes me think more about how I can also eat better, drink water, etc. I guess exercise not only gets your butt moving to burn calories, it motivates me in general.

Good advice....exercise will make me more focused on the big picture....a healthy lifestyle. My mother has such health issues due to eating habits that I do not want to repeat her mistakes. This is why I make a real committment to be healthy.

I'm making a confession.

Merman brought me the BIGGEST Toblerone bar that I have ever seen. It was so big that we ate pieces of it all weekend, and I just finished the last 2 pieces (which were huge). :D Now I need to go to bed.

Thanks Merman!!

You finished off the ENTIRE Toblerone bar? Wow. I'm impressed. Although I have to say there's nothing like chocolate hand-carried from Europe. I forgive you. It was a worthy indulgence.

I thought I'd be five pounds lighter by the time I got to SoWal in October but it doesn't look like it. That means another week in paradise biking and kayakking my tail off in efforts to undo the effects of alcohol and chocolate excesses...any of you who are interested in going aerobic Oct. 7-14, please join me!!!

Don't worry, Miss Kitty, you'll see those pink paddles coming at you a mile away! And I promise that if I take you out on 30-A on the bike, I will guard you from point-seeking locals. ;-)

well, I went to visit my doctor today about this nasty cold, and they made me weigh. as always, those scales had me weighing about 5 pounds more than I thought. of course, I had on my BF MBT shoes, jeans, a belt, a shirt, underwear, bra, a bracelet and a necklace... I am going to ignore that reading.

I weighed on my own scales yesterday by the way Ms DD. and as suspected, I had not gained or lost.
