okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

....and the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that....:bang:

Rule # 3A, Subsection 1- MOFO WENCH COMMITTEE--at any given time, a member may elect to by-pass or completely ignore certain accepted or expected practices and procedures. (This rule applies to SoWell weigh in and any other things we just don't wanna do).

in other words... do whatever the hell you wanna do! and be happy doing it!

What's this? No posts in two days!? We must focus girls! I promise to focus as soon as I finish some fabulous jalapeno cheese that a sweet Sowal friend sent. But, hey, it's my breakfast and lunch, and it's on pita chips--they're healthy aren't they?

Walked a lot yesterday. Plan a long walk tonight. Burning calories running after kids.

Drinking a bf glass of water now.

Lean cuisine for dinner.

Hey y'all. Just wanted to tell you that I'm joining in. Its great what you all are doing. I've been quietly fighting my own weight battle, especially since having a baby 2 1/2 months ago. I was content to eat sensibly and loose weight slowly while nursing. The exercise part has been more difficult--there are no gyms in SoWal that have childcare. I've also had issues with sleep deprivation because I've been getting up my baby.

Well, things changed a few weeks ago when I got very sick for two weeks. Major antibiotics and other meds. I couldn't eat, etc. Needless to say, my milk dried up and I'm no longer nursing. :( I did lose about 12 pounds and it has motivated me to keep going. Also, now that I'm not nursing I don't have the luxury of the extra calories.

So, just wanted to say "hi" and I'll be checking in frequently. Keep up the good work.

hey Kid:

thanks for joining in. so sorry to hear you were sick - Lord knows, you don't have the luxury of being sick!!! glad you are okay and ready to get yourself healthy. but, being a new mom, I hope you will take it easy on yourself for a little while longer. Maybe you can start by doing the little things: establish a habit of lots of water drinking all day, watch your portions, and get out for a walk.

I'm gonna call your butt!

Are we avoiding this thread or what? Ok....I'll admit it, I've been bad. But I did weigh this morning and I again didn't lose or gain. So, I'm happy. And thanks to another thread, I'm eating shrimp cocktail for lunch! Mandarin oranges too, and water. So far a relatively healthy monday.
Come on out girls!!!

I gained 1/2 lb. Not horrible, but could have been better. Nights are tough not to snack....days as well for that matter. I really believe exercise will be the key. Maybe I will be consistent this week as it is so beautiful. I wonder why I LOVE to walk at the beach, but do not have the same feelings at home...maybe a giant beach mural with sounds might help!:funn: I believe I am beyond help in this area.

you aren't just a local, you are a redneck local serving on the sowal redneck wench committee (with me and kathy dwells of course), as I just revealed on another thread, can't keep up with which though.

this doesn't even count - it could be water fluctuation or whatever. yes, I've discovered that I get good results when exercising at least twice a week, because when I take the time to do this, it makes me think more about how I can also eat better, drink water, etc. I guess exercise not only gets your butt moving to burn calories, it motivates me in general.
