Summer House Lifestyle, an interior design studio and lifestyle boutique founded by Melissa Skowlund, has moved to a stylish new storefront and design bar in Watersound.
After 12 years at their previous location in Uptown Grayton Beach, Summer House Lifestyle has moved to an expansive new space that features 4,100 square feet, presenting a much larger retail space than before. Located in the heart of Watersound Town Center, the new location offers more parking for customers and an attached design bar where clients can choose samples, finishes, and furnishings one-on-one with their team of designers.
“We want to provide an experience that is more than just a storefront, but rather a place that helps to create beauty large or small in the lives of our customers,” said owner and principal designer Melissa Skowlund. “Watersound is the perfect location for our existing clientele and offers them an all-in-one experience within the town center. The proximity to the surrounding neighborhoods, like Watersound Origins and Camp Creek, was also a draw for us when choosing our new location because of the opportunity for new design projects.”
Summer House Lifestyle has an extensive portfolio of design projects ranging from Gulf-front properties along 30A, to homes in D.C., Georgia, New York, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. Skowlund’s talents span nationally including a home located on a 400-acre horse farm in Nashville, a Park City ski home, and a waterfront property in Greenwich, Conn. to name a few. The company also has notable commercial projects throughout the community, including Alys Beach’s own Fonville Press.
“We’ve had the honor of working on some amazing projects and partnering with a talented team of sub-contractors and local vendors who help make our clients’ visions come to life,” Skowlund said.
Summer House Lifestyle is known for their timeless elegance and sophisticated design. Their team of designers has fostered a retail space that mimics the look of many of their client’s homes. Each section is thoughtfully organized by room, allowing guests to explore fully styled spaces that spark inspiration and bring design ideas to life.
“Whether you're redesigning a single space or furnishing an entire home, our boutique offers an immersive, room-by-room experience that helps you see all possibilities,” Skowlund said.
From white linen couches and woven textures to natural stones and whimsical wallpaper, the boutique showcases a range of furnishings, home décor, tabletop, florals, fragrances, and much more. Additionally, the thoughtfully curated store also features a variety of clothing and accessories from numerous brands including Anna Beck Jewelry, Autumn Cashmere, Brochu Walker, Eberjey, Krewe Eyewear, Kylar Mack Jewelry, Nation LTD, and TWP Clothing. They are also consistently adding new brands to the mix, including their most recent additions, Ann Mashburn and Karen Adams Designs.
“We want to help clients achieve a level of sophistication and beauty that compliments their personal taste without feeling as though they need to go over the top to do so or adhere to industry trends that will quickly change,” Skowlund said.
To celebrate the new location, Summer House Lifestyle is hosting a ribbon cutting with the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 1 at 4 p.m. followed by a grand opening celebration featuring champagne, charcuterie, desserts, wine, a grand prize giveaway, and much more. The community is invited to attend the festivities and celebrate Summer House Lifestyle’s newest design boutique and studio.
Summer House Lifestyle is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and closed on Sunday. To learn more, visit Summer House Lifestyle.
