Nope, apparently he leaked classified information deliberately and willfully to the public, including adversaries without going through the proper channels. My opinion of him is that his motives were purely self-serving. Reminds me of our president. He can come home at any time, be put on trial, and given the opportunity to prove me wrong.

I find it interesting that Turkey was/is buying anti air missiles from Russia that seemed to upset everyone but the President. Now Russia, who is allied with Syria, is sending troops between the Syrians and Turks. The Kurds, who were our allies against ISIS and the Syrians, are now allied with the Syrians. When this shakes out, I suspect we will see 2 more enemy's out this.

Chelsea Manning, and Snowden were trying to do good for the American people. They should have gone through proper channels like these current whistleblowers did. That is why the House Intelligence Committee is straining to find enough corroborating evidence that it does not become necessary to make these people testify in person. Keeping this whistleblower procedure intact is more important than almost anything the government does. When the Administration complete stonewalls all documents and all relevant people from testifying, that's when truth breaks down. That is what is happening now.
Julian Assange's motives seem a lot more suspect. Why leak the contents of just one party's emails? Why use the Russians as your hackers?

My Two cents is that seems a little harsh since important current news stories may contain photos of demonstrators with such graphics as might old historical photos relevant to current topics.

All I've seen is that it was for a single count of leaking classified information. I assume it's the Russian election tampering reports. Apparently they were top secret. The case was never brought to trial as she plead guilty. Here's a link:

Do you believe Winner and Manning are heroes and do you believe they received fair trials?

As far as I can tell, Winner didn't reveal information that could put people's lives at risk. The same can't be said of Manning or Snowden.
