Sending sympathy and healing wishes!
Having 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed was one of the most physically painful experiences of my life.

Everyone offered good suggestions.
I underwrite keep-it-cool and NO straws / sucking of any sort; development of dry sockets is just horrible awful. My big round face morphed into a giant SQUARE.

Good Luck!

Painkillers, ice, and leaving his grumpy self alone is working pretty well for me.

How's he doing?

I was amazed with Squirt. Prepared for the worst, but he was fine after about 48 hours. Didn't even hardly swell. Actually he was fine after 12 hours but I didn't believe him. Never seen a kid get tired of chocolate milk shakes and mac & cheese.

Better yesterday, hurting more today. Some swelling. He asked to keep his teeth (maybe he thought the Tooth Fairy would leave a lot of money for 4 teeth:lol:). Anyway, these teeth are in pieces so I am wondering if the oral surgeon took a sledge hammer to the kid!

I've heard of them crushing or breaking impacted teeth to eliminate or reduce gum cutting.

They took a hammer and chisel and broke mine up to remove them. Yes, I was awake:eek:

Through "twilight" anesthesia, I'm pretty sure I felt a Mac truck full of jackhammers plowing around in my mouth.

Yeah, they filled me full of Valium and Novocain. I didn't want to say anything till Dargvader got through his, but I looked like the Elephant girl the next day.

Uh know, but I think he is holding out for a last minute Tooth Fairy appeal since he did not work this semester and is always looking for cash opportunities.

Thanks everyone- back at school, gonna live I think, and hopefully the retainer goes back in today before the teeth start moving and we have to start over with braces.

They usually don't since the wisdom don't come in until most kids are out of braces.

I was under the impression they did that now depending on x-rays so that the braces weren't just a temporary fix.

Dr Wiebe pulled one of mine a few years ago.

It was either a root canal or pull the wisdom tooth.

It was kinda cool listening the scrunching sounds when it came out.

It took awhile,a lot of wiggling around and pulling.

She claimed it was because I had a long root. Never been told that before.

Still have three other wisdom teeth.

I saved it if you want to see it.
