Hi Kids,
I have a good friend who needs a GULF FRONT (no stories please ;-)) rental in March, 2011 suitable for her 90 YO Mom. She's in a wheel chair so High Pointe's Beach access / steps won't work. It needs to be at least 2 BR / 2 BA. I was thinking Water Sound may work. :idontno:

Try family ties garrett realty. One level with exceptional view from bluff at seagrove. Small pool; screened porch. 4 bedrooms/3 bath. Renovated old school beach house. Pics on web.

Sorry: realize that beach access won't work for your friend. Stairs to beach. Dune Allen area with less bluff may be better.

Seagrove Beach would not have as much of a bluff. Call Garrett and ask for a condo on Eastern Lake Rd.

Bottom floor at Eastern Shores would be perfect. Look on vrbo.com.

RO...make sure to ask what size the door are. I have been looking for a truly handicap accessible place down there for years. Many owners think if it has an elevator, it counts. But it doesn't. If the chair won't fit in the door or into the bathroom an elevator will do you no good. The only place I've ever found (that is not Destin or Panama City) is Fort Walton Beach. Ramps to the beach, pool and parking lot and their door frames will accommodate a wheel chair. Southern Resorts rents them, Sea Dunes.
If anyone knows of a place in SoWal....PLEASE post it.

Thanks for the heads up. She did say the last place they stayed was Ft Walton.

Eastern Shores and Leeward on Eastern Lake rd are both relatively level with beach.
There may be 1-2 steps on the ramps. Neither has an elevator so you need a ground floor unit. Suggest VRBO. com, navigate to Beaches of South Walton and sort by neighborhoods. Both of these complexes are older (except for the newly rebuilt Leeward 2) so the interiors might /might not be tight for a wheelchair..you'd have to review with owner

Elevator=bad unless there is a reliable generator to run it in the event of a power failure.

😀😀My units at Blue Lupine (Inn at Blue Mountain) have ramps into the showers in the master bathrooms. and the doors are wide enough for a wheel chair. Im not sure of the beach access but will check when im by there in the morning. There is also a little house beside on of our units on Eastern Lake Road. It's called Beach Baby at Seagrove. She has done major renovations on it. It's the second house past Leeward II. I think Beach Rentals Has it. www.castawayvacationrentals.com
