Happy Thanksgiving to locals, visitors and all SoWal beach lovers near and far! This Tom is happy and safe at Alaqua Animal Refuge and I'm thankful for Alaqua providing a safe refuge for animals on their beautiful farm in Freeport. The refuge has many adoptable dogs, cats and other animals. They are always in need of volunteers, donations and supplies... Read more at Alaqua | Shelter, Safety, and Second Chances.
One way to support Alaqua is to attend their fundraising events throughout the year. Coming up is the Wreath Auction on December 3 at Old Florida Fish House in Seagrove. at 6:30pm. All proceeds to benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge.
Auctioneer Helen "Redd", of Redd’s Fueling Station, will present 20 wreaths created by local artists and businesses especially for this event. The wreaths, some of which will be packaged with bonus items and gift certificates, will each go to the highest bidder during this festive holiday fundraiser for Alaqua.
Please join the festivities at Old Florida Fish House, located at 5235 East County Highway 30A, directly on Eastern Lake, to support Alaqua Animal Refuge, take home one of these special wreaths and enjoy a fun filled evening! Full bar and dinner menus will be available.

If you haven't toured Alaqua Animal Refuge yet, plan on it soon! We had a wonderful tour last November, the kids spent time playing with the dogs and we really enjoyed seeing all the other different animals, puppies, pigs, horses, ducks and many more. It's such a haven for animals, but of course the dogs and cats really need to find their homes, so if you're looking for a new family pet, give Alaqua a call and find out about the process for adoption.
Our friends found their perfect pup while we were visiting!
Lee John (my son) and his buddy Jaden "volunteering" to play with the dogs.
