Tickets are on sale for Northwest Florida State College's fall theatrical production of Anthony Horowitz's thriller Mindgame. The play is directed by Clint Mahle and will be presented October 12 to 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sprint Theater at the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center on the college's Niceville campus. Student nights are October 10 and 11.
A Halloween treat, Mindgame follows a prominent author of novels and "true crime" stories who enters a secluded mental institution to interview a serial killer who has been confined there for thirty years. Mindgame was a riveting hit in London's West End and later performed Off-Broadway.
For this production, the college's Sprint Theater, a flexible performance venue at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center, will be configured for only 125 seats per night, so advance ticket purchase is recommended. Due to some intense violence, Mindgame is recommended for audiences ages 15 and up. Tickets are $15 adult and $10 youth ages 18 and younger. For tickets, contact the Box Office at (850) 729-6000 or purchase online at www.mattiekellyartscenter.org. Currently enrolled NWFSC students or area high school students may attend free of charge on Student Nights October 10 and 11 by showing a student ID, no ticket is required; seating on student nights is on a first come basis. Doors each night of the show open at 6:00 p.m.
Mark Styler, the writer, will be played by Danny Thomas of Niceville. Styler believes he has snared the coup of his career by scheduling an interview with a serial killer. But, when he arrives at the asylum, he finds nothing can be trusted, not even his own eyes. Through a series of lies, manipulations and memories, dark secrets are revealed. Why is there a skeleton in Doctor Farquhar's office? (Doctor portrayed by Daniel Sindelar of Ft. Walton Beach) Where did the raw meat in the fridge come from? What is Nurse Plimpton, portrayed by Talia Davila of Crestview so afraid of? And most importantly, how does one get out? ##
