JOB SUMMARY:
- Directs all operations of the Tourist Development Council (TDC) to include developing strategies to achieve the mission; annual quantitative and qualitative goals; supervision of assigned staff and preparation of a budget. The position also oversees visitor experience development and capital planning for South Walton. The position is responsible for the management of the local option tourist development tax.
- The Executive Director will oversee the administrative, sales and marketing functions as well as the overall visitor experience through beach operations and capital planning.
- The Executive Director reports to the Walton County Board of County Commissioners and receives strategic input from the Tourism Development Council (TDC.)
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from a four (4) year accredited College or University with a degree in marketing, advertising, business, management, public relations or a related field and seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in destination marketing or economic development, including responsible supervisory and program management experience.
- Seven+ years as a senior executive overseeing destination marketing with a demonstrated record of success in destination marketing and capital planning is preferred.
- Experience in developing an enhanced visitor experience plan.
- Experience managing a tourism organization with a multi-million dollar budget.
- Experience in public sector budgeting is preferred.
- Relevant certification in destination marketing or related field is preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
