I just saw this too. 5ft wide??? Jeesh.
I've seen them that large right here in Grayton Beach, but there aren't too many of them that large hanging out around here. Cape San Blas is full of Stingrays that size, and they don't get out of your way when you walk toward them.
yeah i have seen them that big too and they are close to the shore.
Were you floating around trying to "swim to the second sand bar" when I was safe in my kayak when I saw the swarm of them coming right at y'all? I had to move myself to safety because I was not having a bunch of drunks getting scared, grabbing my kayak and tumping me over. And all our beer cans.
I see them all the time swimming around our dock on the bay. I've never seen one wider than about two feet, but I'm surprised at how many of them there are!

I saw what I think may have been a sting ray or a Manta Ray that was at least 5 ft wide. I only saw the shadow and it was pretty close to the first sandbar. I heard they do fly out of the water, and I didn't know that, but BB's husband said he sees them fly out all the time from above.
Isn't it mating season or are they migrating?
I saw a small sting ray in the lake at Grayton Park. It was curious about me. It came right up to the edge if the water to say hello.

I had no idea...and if I had known, I'd have sent Cabanaman for you all.
Maybe somebody can cash in on the inevitable hysteria with some sort of Kevlar body armor suitable for swimming
