I understand that it is now mating season for Deer. This got me thinking... Is there a Mating Season for people? I am sure we get distracted by things such as work and holidays, but I wonder if deep inside us there could be such a thing as mating season for us peeps.

Thoughts or comments? :dunno:

Human offspring have no survival benefit from seasonal birth. I think animals are conceived/born at a designated time annually to maximize the odds of survival.:dunno:
Well we know that. That is today's world. Go back several hundred years and there had to be some survival benefit, don't you think? :dunno:

I think that there is not one. Human babies will still be babies in one year while many animals are on their own by then. :dunno: I think humans just do it when ready. just imho:blush:

I don't know if there would have been a substantial benefit although it makes intuitive sense to think that a kid born in June would have better odds than one born in December. In the end it is all about hormones, and our females ovulate monthly and our males, well, you know how they operate.

I do think that back in the day people were more prone to plan having their children around Spring. (more food, warm weather) Although having to stay inside for days due to cold weather I am sure some were conceived then as well. no tv, radio, etc.
Look at the baby boomers, they were a result of a mating season...dont ya think?

I always thought that any time is a good time. But I would have to agree that in the distant past it was better to have the offspring in the spring.
