The TDC is considering installing recycling containers for cans and glass at our six regional beach accesses and some of our highly used neighborhood accesses. We are curious if the users on this board would use the containers. This is not set in stone as we are still researching how we can implement it but I would like your input. Thanks in advance.

I think this is a great idea!! Lord knows I feel guilty about all the "cans" I throw away while on vacation down there!!!!

Am I convincing you???

The garbage cans already seem to be 95% cans and bottles. Maybe just add a few TRASH cans.:rotfl:

I'd like to hear how this would be done. At the street and if so, won't this impact traffic problems at the the regional access due to pick up? Multiple containers on the beach for bottles/cans? How frequently would the trash be picked up? My first vision was large dumpsters sitting at the end of S. Orange, disrupting the view at the park.

Those are all the issues we are working out. For starters, they would be located primarily at entrance ways. Our beach maintenance staff will service them either very late or very early so that no one will be impacted. We will start with one or two of each type (can and glass) clearly labeled depending on how heavily the accesses are used- we have a pretty good handle on which ones are used more often. S. Orange would get one or two located to the left or right of the entrance way just past the horseshoe turnaround. These will be smaller can-like structure, not full sized dumpsters. We want to start them this Spring and then work out the kinks by the summer.

Keep in mind, no geed deed goes unpunished so it won't be perfect but we believe it is needed.

Thanks for the quick response. I would also be concerned about noise issues that will impact full-time residents living nearby during very early or very late pick-ups. Overall, it's a great idea if done right.

Thanks for asking for people's opinions.
