Ok I'm late reading this thread but........

Jfunn, go kick her a** !!!!!!!!! my best friend has this problem, but there is a piano involved!!!!

BJ had someone in the unit below her who put a note on her door and complained about her being a Stampy. Said that she lived alone and that it "scared" her. A larger place became available in September, so we moved BJ there. Now BJ has a Stampy upstairs! Drives her crazy. But ironically the trucks going down Peachtree make the place shake much worse than her Stampy does. :dunno:

Well, Jfunn has played many of the bullhorn tunes to me over the phone and after she played them for the Dargs, I think a tune choice has been made. Actually, Jfunn handed the phone off to jdarg so she could play with the wii game machine. ;-)

 I hate to be a party pooper about this....but I have some hard learned experience with this very matter!!!! And it scares me to death to hear someone suggest confrontation or knocking on the ceiling.

Before I moved to Grayton waaaaay back in the late 80's I had been living and commuting from New Orleans to Mobile Alabama. I chose the most expensive and secure townohouses to rent in Mobile (gated with security guard on 24 hours). To make a long story short I was in a situation much like yours. I even had the security guard come over and listen through each townhouse so she could let my "neighbor" know what could and could not be heard. He was always beating on our walls, giving us bad looks, and threatning anyone who came within 5 feet of his unit. He was a very angry man...in fact we sometimes laughed and called him "Steamhead" as we knew he was going to blow any moment.

One night we sat down to eat dinner and watch a movie. Just as we got started we heard the banging begin. Sounding as if he had thrown his couch against the wall. Grant immediately got up and was going to approach him. I grabbed his hand and said let's just ignore him tonight. 5 minutes later the same pounding. This time I couldn't stop Grant. He told me to sit there and he would tell him he's was calling the police if he didn't stop.

I remained on the couch with a straight shot to what was going on outside. My daughter was in the kitchen. I heard the arguing and decied to go out there with Grant. I stopped at the door and heard Grant say, "Well, man if you aren't going to stop pounding on our walls then I'm going to call the police". And, in one slow, very slow motion "Steamhead" pulled out a gun and said, "Well then I'm going to blow your f***ing head off." He lifted his arm and shot him point blank between the eyes. From that moment on my life has never been the same. My daughter slammed the door and locked it, she was so scared. I ran to call 911, but it wouldn't go through on the phone downstairs. I had my daughter run upstairs to call...while I ran across to my friends townhome and she called. I held Grant while he died in my arms. Our neighbor told detectives he had shot him in his house after he broke in on them. The detective quickly let him know where he was lying and that he was shot out on our side of the sidewalk. Our neighbor called his lawyer at that point.

We were to be married October 10th of that year. I moved to Grayton in October. The trial was in March of the next year. It was horrible. We had 3different DA's and the last one knew nothing of the case until I sat with him and we went through the files the night before. "Steamhead" had the biggest badest lawyer of Mobile. Even with 4 witnesses to what happened he got 2nd degree murder......up to 15 years. He was immediately put on a work out of jail sentence. He worked at his job as Manager of a Burger King all day then came in for the nights. He got out after 4 years for great behavior. It was apparent the lawyer had the judge in his pockets or vice sa versa.

So, as you can see I am very leary about people like this. They harbor things we know nothing about. He also worked at the POST OFFICE!!! His alcohol level was .2-6. He was also a Viet Nam Vet with some very nasty scars...mentally!

I really have little advice about this....except to be very careful and try and get your manegment involved. Put it in writing to them and send it where they have to sign for it....or it could easily get lost! !

Good luck with this situation and I pray that something I've shared may help your experience, and if nothing else shed a little light on it. Keep us posted!!!

Kat...going back to bed now:yawn:

Oh my! So sorry for your tragedy....what a horrible experience!! You are so correct about not knowing what issues people harbor. Glad to know you found a grayt place to move forward. Thanks for sharing your terrifying experience.
