It's in SoWal: the nearly-empty jar of Peter Pan Creamy Peanut Butter in our pantry  had one of the batch numbers that might be carrying salmonella. I don't remember when or where I bought it, but it was either Publix or Wal-Mart.

Fortunately, nobody in our house has shown signs of salmonella, but admittedly most of it was spooned into our lab's Kong toys and frozen.

We had two jars with the 2111 batch numbers as well...crunchy and creamy. My adult son ate several PJ sandwiches earlier this week. It might explain why he came down with the "flu" a couple of days later. :puke: Not that it helps any, but you can return the lid(s) for a refund. More info on the recall is available at http://www.conagrafoods.com/index.jsp

:eek:That is so scary. Yesterday at my kids school, they conficated all pb&j sandwiches. If you brought one, you didn't get to eat it.

My mom got really sick last week and she thinks this may be the culprit. Can we sue ConAgra?

We were talking about this at lunch today. I have a jar at home of the Great Value brand that they sell at Walmart. So, if it is in Great Value, and Peter Pan wouldn't that be the EXACT same peanut butter? I paid alot less for the "off brand (Great Value)" than I would have for the "name" brand Peter Pan. So, how do they get away with that. Just slapping another label on the jar and asking you to pay more for it?

I had both Jif and Peter Pan on my shelf. I am choosy and I choose JIF, but one of my friends who visits hates JIF. I checked the marking on the PP PB and I have a 211... Glad I didn't get food poisoning. I just returned from the WaterColor Publix and no Peter Pan is on the shelf. JIF must be loving life right now.

You got it! It is called the cost of branding. Most every canned generic food is made in the same plants where other brand foods are canned. The only question is which tastes better. Unless you do taste tests on all foods, you will never know.
