Hillary Rodham Clinton is the politician that people seem to love to hate.
Back in Denver, after Gore lost but before '08 loomed, there was a guy who would stand on a busy street corner with a homemade sign that said Honk If You Hate Hillary Clinton. People honked.
It may or may not be her fault, but the truth is, she's just too divisive.

Maybe her problems are due to that "vast right wing conspiracy" she spoke of on NBC while defending the great Slick one from perjury charges concerning sex with some "silly" girl......

That's before the dress came out of the closet...

Certainly, if she were guilty of anything she would be in prison rather than sitting in the United States Senate. New Yorkers I know like the woman from Arkansas, that in itself tells me she must be doin' something right.

New Yorkers like her because she is a northerner. She ain't from Arkansas even though she lived there for a while. She is so far from being a southerner that it isn't even funny. New York will vote for her, but I would be willing to bet she can't carry one state south of the Mason Dixon line.

I hope she is the Democratic candidate. That would ensure a win for the Republican nominee. I like the idea of a divided government. A Republican majority in the house, senate and the white house got us nowhere and the same would be the case with a sweep by Dems. A divided government requires cooperation.

That's a rather prejudicial statement. I was born, raised, and live in New York, but that makes me far from being a Hillary proponent.
My decision regarding a vote for President will be based on the issues this country faces and how the candidates address them, not whether they are from the North or South.
IMO, Hillary has not shown me thus far that she is capable of being more than a glorified legislator with the name Senator in front of her.

Now if I were going to base my vote on someone only because they were a NYer, it would be Rudy Guiliani who has a proven track record of fighting crime, lowering taxes, housing initiatives, swift action during 9-11, welfare to work programs etc.

But, there are other candidates to consider, and until the issues are addressed, which right now is pretty thin gruel to review, it's anyone's game right now (with the exception of Clinton in my book) ;-)

SJ......We live in different times. The era of Harry Truman, George C. Marshall, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Barry Goldwater, William Proxmire, Mike Mansfield, Margaret Chase Smith, Elliot Richardson and Henry Jackson are long gone. The great leaders who believed in public service for the sake of public duty have gone the way of the dodo bird. Integrity , character, honesty and trust worthiness don't win elections anymore. The spoils go to the candidate who can raise the most dough and who has "charisma" and a winning personality. We live in the era of revolving door gov't. The politicians, when they lose or retire go to Wall St. or on the Corporate Boards and earn millions ( Harold Ford is the latest example). We only have a few politicians alive today who are men of character.....Colin Powell,and Joe Lieberman. Obama may have the right stuff but needs ten more years of life experience. I have a hard time recalling others even though their may be many. I am not an optimist on our political system's future.
