As the mother of a son who has been to the Middle East, including Iraq, several times, I am opposed to this war.
Fortunately, my son decided to get out of the military after his tour at the Baghdad airport last year....despite the fact that he had spent a good part of his career in the military and is a true patriot. There are many like him who joined the military not because they couldn't do anything else, but because they like their fathers and grandfathers before them, believed in service to their country. Yet the civilian leaders who sent them into harms way were using a different play book.
Many of his team are still there--as you consider making comments on the war, ask yourselves the question: why did we invade Iraq? And, then talk to some of the troops, their families, do some research on Bush and Company, look around at what is happening to our country. Go visit a VA hospital, volunteer to help, volunteer to help the family readiness units at the local bases, do something to be a part of what our military men and women are living and dying with everyday.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I would just like more citizens to take the time to find out what really is behind all of this. You might be surprised and saddened at what you discover.
It's not something any American should take lightly.
