Up the hill from the Gateway Arch
When I think of music from the mid-80's I think of Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, etc.

here's a list
My original idea was for it to be themed around it being her 40th, if that makes sense. I was trying to use that as my subject matter but keeping it fun, not depressing. :rotfl: I'm getting the idea most people automatically think of 80s music when they think of a 40-something person, so maybe I'm on the wrong track. :dunno:
Thanks for the list!

Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joblin. Always a good drinking song :)

If it is an adult party, there is a song by a guy named John Eddie called "40" that is hilarious( a good song also). It however is not for smaller ears. If you could find it on the web, it would be worth listening to. If your friend has a sense of humor, they will love it.

I know you're not looking for a time genre necessarily but I love these songs in a party setting.

Moondance - Van Morrison

Red Red Wine - UB40

Oye Como Va - Santana

Take It Easy - The Eagles

soooo many Doobie Brothers - Listen to the Music, Takin' it to the Streets, Long Train Runnin', Jesus Is Just Alright, etc etc...
