I thought the same thing. It is unreal that the announcement of Falwell's death trumped the interview with Tony Blair (on NBC). I about threw the remote through the TV screen.

I think the moral majority may disagree.:dunno:

So does 6th gen mean 6 generations of racism and bigotry?

No, it means that my family moved to this beloved state 7 generations ago, I think around the 1840s, but I'd have to double check. Again, I'm impressed that you picked up that "6thGen" meant Sixth Generation, given the circumstances. Kudos again.

Where one person starts, does not determine where one ends.

6th Gen, I'll give you one to start:

Excerpt to clarify the obesity vs. hunger idea:

The causes of obesity are complex; and problems associated with being overweight and obese affect all Americans, regardless of income or race. Emerging research suggests, however, that hunger, poverty and obesity may be intricately linked. Recent work from Cornell University and the University of California at Davis suggest that obesity among poor women may be linked to their habit of periodically going without food so that their children can eat.

Others factors also may contribute to the problem. Low income people may consume greater amounts of less expensive, high-calorie and high-fat foods to guard against hunger, or may be unable to afford sufficient amounts of more nutritious food. Cash-strapped families may increasingly rely on fast food chains, which promote "value" meals, such as oversized burgers, extra-large servings of fries and buckets of soda. Healthier foods ? such as meat, fish, fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains ? often are more expensive than alternative junk food.
Poor neighborhoods often lack large grocery stores that typically offer the lowest prices and greatest range of brands, package sizes and quality choices.
They also often do not have access to farmers? markets that sell locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Transportation to these large grocery stores and farmers? markets also may be unavailable or expensive. Consequently, many families in low-income neighborhoods depend on their corner convenience stores, which often are stocked with high-cost, processed, pre-packaged foods. Exacerbating this problem, low-income families, especially those living in urban areas, often do not have safe areas for physical activity.

We? I've never taken land, pride or way of life away from any American Indian. They have taken much more from me at the casinos, but I'm not *****ing about it. So leave me out of your white guilt trip.

I love this simplistic " Jerry Springer-esque" line of reasoning. I never personally owned a slave ; I never personally hurt an Indian ; I never dropped a nuclear bomb on anyone ; I never put U.S citizens in internment camps. Not my fault so bite me right.

The same joker will be the first to take credit for all the great things the U.S has brought to the world-- democracy , freedom of religion , the Constitution, and on.

Ask them why they deserve all the priviledges of living in this country , and all of a sudden they will tell you how many generations they have been here ( may even put it in their online name ).

I deserve all the good but am not responsible for any of the bad. Hypocritical. Now that i read this , I think we should call it the " Brown/Gonzalez/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz" defense.

:dunno: A McDonald's "Value" Meal, costs over $5 in most areas. One can easily go to the grocery store and buy healthy groceries and with a few basic instructions, produce a great tasting, healthy, balanced meal for that price, if not less. So, I don't understand your point. :dunno:
But you don't get a toy.

This argument is not thought out properly. You are making accusations which have no foundation in truth. Please try to stay on point.
Logical arguments and staying on point are contrary to how these threads go.
Argument made sense to me, though I didn't get the Jerry Springeresque reference (probably because I've never seen the show).
