I recently saw an AMC Pacer on Craigslist for 350.00 and actually considered the possibilities. I once owned an orange AMC Hornet wagon, and the memory of that horrific experience served as an intervention. I did not see the Chevy Vega, which Car and Driver once said "redefines the word depreciation".
The most unique person I ever met collects Corvairs. My friend is a New Hampshire resident, has a Lakewood Wagon, , truck, and a fiberglass construction RV based on covair engine propulsion.... the UltraVan!! He towed a rather whipped UltraVan from Orlando to Northern N.H. on the back of a car carrier. I can't believe he made it!That's great! Hilarious descriptions.
I never heard of most of them, but I remember reading recently about an Amphicar convention on Lake Michigan. My neighbor had a convertible Corvair when I was little, and he used to take me for rides in it. I blame my love of convertibles on those rides.
El Caminos have a following. The beds are usually a nightmare of rust.I was looking for the El Camino. Oh well. Great read anyway, as you say. That guy knows cars and can turn a phrase.![]()

TR6s are much in demand, and have timeless body lines. Rust has taken most TR6s to the car crusher.I love reading about cars. Thanks for this link. I viewed the 1960 - 1974. Wow, what memories. My best friend had a Triumph TR6. We thought we were so cool riding around in that thing!
