This is personal, but the people on this board have lots of experiences

Anyone had problems with ovarian cysts? My oldest has had surgery twice for them, and I am afraid my younger is having problems as well. She called this AM, 450 miles away at college, crying and throwing up. Severe stomach cramps. I just talked her through the worst of it, and she seems better. Any knowledge on how often this can flair up? :dunno:It seems to be more frequent.

I've never had any complications from ovarian cysts, but I'm sure it's very painful. I ALWAYS use a heating pad during that (cycle) time. A heating pad may ease her pain some.:dunno: It's worth a try.

I hope she feels better soon.

Yes when I was twenty and in college. Ended up being a benign fibroid tumor. I did not have nausea with mine, just severe cramps which got unbearable when I had to take gymnastics. Does your youngest still have her appentix as the symptoms can be similar.

Yes she does, so that is something to watch. Thanks!

Here is a useful link for you:

My youngest sister had her first operation for ovarian cysts when she was only a year out of college. It's something you need to keep a careful eye on so I'd suggest your daughter get to her gynecologist straight away!!

My only experience with cysts is from many years of infertility treatments with Clomid and with Pergonal which would cause cysts to appear and blow up like balloons (not to mention bruising and pain so bad that it hurt to sit down). After having no successful pregnancies from all of the Clomid and Pergonal and in vitro, my doctor finally told me he would stop taking our money. Beach Jacket was a miracle baby -- I wasn't on any infertility drugs when she was conceived.

I have recently been followed up with ultasounds and CA-125 tests. Of course, in the most recent journals the news is that no test is definitive regarding screening for ovarian cancer -- ladies, we are screwed ... literally and figuratively.:bang:

I did have an emergency appendectomy. If it's her appendix I'm sure she would know. It's excrutiating pain.

Don't know much about ovarian cysts but one of my gulls had to have her appendics out at 18. Mine ruptured when I was 12. Then there is IBS which is very crampy too, can be nauseating and stress-related. If she can't keep any fluids down at all and keeps a temp, of course, send her to the clinic or ER. Sorry iwiwt, I would want to be with my gull too. :sosad:

I did too have an emergency appendectomy as a kid, but not really excrutiating pain, but more of a feeling like I had a belt around me squeezing. My BIL on the other hand said he had symptoms for months before having to have an appendectomy.
The majority of peeps I know who have had them say though say you know something is definitely awry. Never had a problem with cysts. Just some minor pressure. They went away by themselves. Maybe she just had a virus, but if it returns, it definitely warrants a trip to the doctor.
