Gee, I am overwhelmed.
Very few people know why we love Disney so much, but gee you guys are like family now. So here is the story.
When our daughter was 2 and half we lost our son at birth, due to a very premature birth.
Little M. mouse was a huge Disney fan, watching all the afternoon Disney shows such as Rescue Rangers and Duck Tails. Needless to say I was in major depression from the loss of the baby and was prone to crying.
One day, little M. mouse, came in the kitchen and with big blue eyes looked up at me and said, "Mom I know where we can go where you will be happy again, Disney World, it's the Happiest Place on Earth." Of course she had seen the commercial on TV.
Needless to say that was our first trip, we had no money due to lots of medical bills, but we charged it and went for 3 nights and stayed in a Days Inn. Not once did little Mouse complain about the long ride down there, she was going to see Mickey.
The first day when we arrived at the Magic Kingdom, Little M. saw Mickey and ran up to him and gave him the biggest hug and said, "Oh Mickey, I know we will be happy now, we are finally here with you." Even now it makes me cry.
So for 20 years we have gone every year, staying usually at least 10 days up to 2 weeks, to celebrate the love for our children, the earthly one and our heavenly one.
The longest I have stayed is one month and that is another thread completely. My month at Disney.
So yes I admit I am a Disney fanatic and will gladly help anyone that needs any trip planning. So Mango let me know when you need your private tour guide. ;-)
And DKA, you must go and visit the Resorts during the Holidays, they are a trip within itself.
No one does themeing like Disney does. They do extensive research to make each of their themed resorts as realistic as possible. The new Animal Kingdom Lodge is the closest thing to an African Safari lodge outside of the real deal. The Wilderness Lodge is a blend of the great national park lodges at Yellowstone, Yosemite and Sequoia. The totem poles in the lobby are handmade by native artisans.
