Shelly - I'm a real duck fanatic, and I don't remember seeing it on the menu at Royal B's (doesn't mean that it's not there). I've ordered duck everywhere that I see it on the menu locally (and elsewhere), but I've found that Beachwalk Cafe consistently has the best duck I've had just about anywhere.
For a real bare bones duck dish, Smiling Fish Cafe has a nice one for lunch and dinner (one night a week) over spinach salad. For some weird reason I don't like my duck served already sliced. Both Beachwalk and Smiling let you do the work in that regard.
This is not to distract you at all from Royal B's, which should be a really good dining experience (better than those snacks you eat at those auctions and open houses). I think they have one of the best appetizers on the coast in their barbecue shrimp. The spiced butter sauce gives the dish a little kick and the
smoked Gouda grit cakes are shaped in a ramekin (I?m guessing) and were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside - delicious!
The other appetizer there that you don't find much in our parts that I like a good bit is the turtle soup. If you are inclined towards this dish - this is the place to get it. Don't let the sherry get you too tipsy.
I also think the service is very good at Royal B's. Clark and/or Blake Brennan are usually on the premisis, and these guys have done a really nice job in training the staff here. I hope you have a good experience, and I think you will. Give us a report after your visit...I want to see if you are as upbeat in your restaurant reviews as you are in your take on the real estate market.
