I hate depressing movies...

I show film clips in my drama class, and the boys asked me last week if we could watch "Taps" sometime this semester. I told them that I hadn't seen the movie in 20 years (and I don't think I ever really watched more than 10 minutes of it back in the day), so I would have to watch it again before I could promise them anything. One of the little darlings lent it to me this week, and I just finished watching it.


Sheesh! What a miserable, sad movie! For the life of me I can't figure out if there was a redeeming quality to be found anywhere in it...

(I already told them that there was absolutely no chance of watching "Platoon" or "Full Metal Jacket," so they might as well stop asking.)

SPEAKING OF BEING DEPRESSED...!!! Back before my arranged engagement to a stranger, I didn't worry about the phone not ringing. Now when my phone doesn't ring, I get aggravated.

If I ever meet him, he's in big trouble.

I can only watch depressing movies when I'm depressed. Or when it's raining.

But "Taps" is such a great movie, depressing or not. I saw "Full Metal Jacket" on a first date. Bad omen.

I guess it depends on if the depressing movie is a good movie, or worthy of being all depressed and sad. I've seen very sad movies that are wonderful. some seem to have no point.
