expanding on this - get a huge group of SoWallers surrounding it. Have a seance over it, communicating with "Canon" customer service spirits. I'm outta my comfort zone here -- would now refer to Light Worker or NoHall for some creative/spirited exchange before THE? CANON SLR goes into the SoWal Bonfire.

De-lurking here to offer my suggestion. It is a Canon, right? Why not incorporate a "cannon" of some sort? Just a thought. You could use it as a "Canon" ball, "Canon" fodder or a nice "Canon" target.

That might be a winner, Sonny. Instead of an actual cannon, I could use the waterballoon slingshot and call it a low-budget can(n)on. Maybe we could sell them to the gov't to replace the expensive ones.

Now if I could use someone's Nikon to video tape the event, I might get Nikon to pitch in and get me a new replacement camera and lenses.

We have 4 actual cannons here at the school. You could shoot it into the lake, or if you use one of the other ones, you could shoot it at Hop's parents' house.

What about a catapult? They're easy and inexpensive to build, and it would also incorporate the cannon idea a little bit. The obvious question is where to catapult it to or what to catapult it into. You can get quite a lot of force going with a good one.

Do they look like castle walls? If you dress the part (medival invader), a catapult into a "castle" wall could be very theatrical.

What would happen if you put it in a microwave? You'd want to go pick up a cheap one at a thrift shop as you will likely ruin more than just the camera. Maybe set the camera up somehow to keep taking shots of the inside of the microwave as it slowly spins into its grave.
If you do the cannon into a brick wall idea, you gotta figure out how to get the camera to get a shot of the wall as it is in mid air heading to the wall. Cool effect, right?
