Surprise! Oprah not a Palin fan

New posts
They'll get over it. This is silly...one more non-issue.
.

If the FFRW really want air time for Palin, the Sunday morning public affairs programs would be more helpful to the voting public. This is where we could get more clarity of where she stands on issues.

btw everyone can catch McCain (CBS’ “Face the Nation”), Obama (ABC’s “This Week”), and Biden (NBC’s “Meet the Press”) on these shows tomorrow, but the McCain camp has decided that Palin is not quite ready for interviews yet..

But I guess she was ready for a documentary on FOX. I missed it.

Freedom is a great thing.

it's amazing that the republicans here are shredding oprah because of who she chooses to have on her program. Seems to be SOP for the party. just slinging nasty comments like the party leaders.
palin seems better suited for the view, where hasselbeck can fawn all over her and probably cry.

Here is the press release. As you can see the FFRW acknowledge that Oprah can do what she wants, and so can they. Freedom is a great thing.

Florida Republican Women Officially Boycott Oprah

(Tallahassee, FL) The Florida Federation of Republican Women today called for a boycott of the Oprah Winfrey Show based upon Ms. Winfrey's refusal to have Governor Sarah Palin as a guest on Oprah until after the election, according to Linda Ivell, President of the FFRW.
Ms. Ivell said her 58 year old group, the largest political organization in Florida, is also encouraging women to join the grassroots national movement to cancel their subscriptions to O Magazine.
"Women in Florida helped build Oprah into the icon she is today. With our Republican sisters across the nation, we have collectively enjoyed her entertaining, informative and female-driven programming as we raised our families and became more empowered as women. We are deeply disappointed in Ms. Winfrey's decision to sit out the greatest political moment in the history of women since suffrage," said Ms. Ivell.
Ivell went on to say, "We find it to be an abuse of her power ?gained on the backs of our patronage of her advertising empire - to use her program to so blatantly support Obama in the face of this historic moment. So, we are tuning out and cancelling our subscriptions to O Magazine and encourage other women to do the same. Maybe not forever, but at least until 'after the election'," said Ms. Ivell in a direct reference to Oprah's refusal not to host Governor Palin until 'after the election'.
Ms. Ivell stated that her members respect Ms. Winfrey's personal endorsement of the Democratic ticket as every American is entitled to their personal opinion and vote. The boycott is a part of the FFRW's new truth in the media and fair reporting watch dog committee organized in direct response to what Ivell termed as "the unfair and misleading reporting regarding the selection of Sarah Palin as running mate on the Republican ticket."
"The women of my organization stand united in our stance for fair and balanced reporting. We were sickened by the liberal media assault on Governor Palin's family and her underage children. We are simply taking our spending dollars elsewhere and will publish a watch dog report on unfair media practices weekly on our web site: www.ffrw.net," said Ms. Ivell.

The part that I've bolded makes me see red!

Many Republicans have been angered by the way Sarah Palin has been attacked in the media. Take, for example, her Ebay comment regarding the airplane. She's been accused of not being truthful, or stretching the truth or any variation thereof.

So you think Republicans would be very careful not to be guilty of behavior, whether it be of word or action, that would cause more of the same abuse to be hurled at them.

Apparently not.

How quickly these Republican women have forgotten Geraldine Ferraro! If they're saying that Sarah Palin's nomination has been the best shining moment for women in politics since suffrage, they really ought to be straight with it. They should say she's the best Republican moment. Geraldine Ferraro was actually the first woman VP candidate for a major--ie, Democrat or Republican--party. Of course we all know that Ms. Ferraro must not count anything for American women because she was not a Republican. :bang:

That little rant aside, I don't have any especial regard for Oprah for not having Sarah Palin on her show. Yes, yes, I understand it's her show and she can do what she wants, but I still think she's passing up a great opportunity to find out what makes this woman tick. Oprah's all about education, always has been, and yet here's a chance to learn about a diametrically different political viewpoint and she's passing on it. I don't get it. Oprah could ask Sarah Palin questions no one else could and she's not interested and I think that's a pity. (If I were going to be immature about this I could add that you'd think someone was afraid of getting cooties or something, but I won't.)

um, yeah. the girls seem pretty sure of themselves. i believe the trial lawyers association has them beat, but who's to argue? the tone of this is the same as we've seen all this week from upper management of your party; negative, angry attacks. Is this business as usual? Is this how you want them to represent us? Do none of you see this? please, remove the blinders, i implore you. nothing good will result if your candidates win the election.

The part that I've bolded makes me see red!

I would not let all of this stuff get me so worked up. I quit posting most of the RPOF press releases because it is obvious that they are designed to do nothing more than pump up the base and dig at the Democrats. Every group is spinning things their way, every group has their opinions, that is why they associate with each other. If you are not a member of the Republican Women it is probably because you do not agree with their mission. Back on those press releases, I will put some up for discussion so you can see what I am talking about.
