What numbers? Am i going blind?

Okay, here's one for ya'. I think I heart this bank heiress!

Bank of America heiress says 'idiots' are running the bank - Daily Finance

Graph - long line then a dot with the date of the bear market.

That's a great article. Not to mention they bought Countrywide Home Loans - THE PIONEERS of the subprime mortgage - Angelo Mozillo or whatever his name is, ranks up there with those Enron guys. Rumor has it, Angelo will open another lender when the dust settles!

I heart her too - I'd marry her if she weren't broke! :rotfl:

Of course the "markets have lost confidence" - every headline, publication, website, news show, and radio broadcast keeps screaming that doomsday has arrived. It's called a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I had the misfortune of being trapped in a place that had Fox news on Friday - after they ran the promo for "Is this the future of America" featuring people waving torches in the streets, I put my Ipod headphones in and stared at the ceiling rather than subject myself to further hysteria.

Forgive me for not stocking up on MREs and building a shelter in the backyard, but the market isn't even at its lowest point in MY memory. Yes, I've lost money on paper, but that's why you invest for the long term and don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I liked the stress test plan on the banks talked about again in DC today. I'm seeing it as exposing (forcing) a number that the bank will need to hit as a reserve threshold. What they can't make up with private investment will be made up by public funding. As losses are taken the current reserves will be burned up then the TARP funds will kick in. If a bank doesn't burn up their reserve then no TARP to repay.

To me it looks like the best way to sure up the system if we are going to go that route. I liked the reference used of creeping nationalism for this scenario.

Right here!
The dow got within 33 points of the 6000's today. We might even break below it. It seems the promise of 4 trillion in additional government debt, a 20% increase in budgetary spending, higher taxes on investment and business, and unrealistic economic projects by the Obama administration are not going over as well as expected.
