Far from attacking him on a personal level, he has been a "moderate" Republican during his tenure of 28 years. He feels he cannot win the Republican primary in Pennsylvania because he is not seen as Conservative enough. He is looking out for his "career" and nothing else. One more very good and evident reason for term limits.

One more bit of damage Bush did to the GOP (to be fair, Santorum lost his way as well). If the state and national GOP had let PA go as they'd go, Toomey would be a true believer leader in the party today. Instead, Bush had to go all out to support Specter who showed his thanks by stabbing him in the back in judicial. The only silver lining is as we head to hell in a handbasket, there is nowhere to hide for the Dems and we can look for another Reagan revolution if we can find some decent leadership (I'm not looking at you Gov Pawlenty) to keep the country on life support until the Indians come around.
