My perfect beach
I've never piloted a plane and have no desire to, but once I got to fly in the cockpit at night (no, it had nothing to do with that club) and witnessed the static electricity "lightning" across the windshield, which I was told is known as St. Elmo's fire. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life, and I can easily see how people get hooked on flying.

I wish I'd invested differently. I wish I'd gotten an advanced degree, but since I'm undecided at to which one that should be, I guess there's a reason I never got it. Sometimes I wish I'd had another child, but that's more for Critter Jr. than for me. Our family is so small now that I just don't want him to be alone. Though I have quite few years on swgb, the fat lady hasn't sung yet, so I guess there's still time to do the things that appeal to me. An extended visit to the Mediterannean, for one. I actually think I'd like to live in Italy or Greece for some time. Maybe I'll visit the Bucket List thread to get some more ideas.

Oh, I have loved to fly since before the first time I ever did...and fortunately for me, my work for many years afforded me the opportunity/necessity of flying in small, private planes (usually a King Air) almost every week for years...I have so many fantastic memories of all the times I sat in the co-pilot seat and watched the clouds, the thunderstorms, the beautiful, snake-like rivers...once, on a trip to the Yukon, we seemed to be all alone in a white world of snow covered landscape, when suddenly off to the side, there was a "convention" of bears...it was the most amazing thing to see..I loved every minute of the flying, the energy, the freedom--I would have loved to pilot the plane myself and to "slip the surly bonds of Earth". Maybe in another life:D

Thank you.

Lt Magee had an even better one:

High Flight
by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds...and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of...wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, nor even eagle flew.
And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space...
...put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

I'm trying not to read the earlier replies so they won't taint mine, but here's what I have off the top of my head:

1. I've never learned to dance. I plan to remedy that in the fall.

2. I've never learned to shoot a gun. I don't intend to murder anyone or even own a gun, but I think it would make sense to learn.

3. I also would love to learn to fly a plane!

I'm not trying to brag, but I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to learn a LOT of cool things in my lifetime. Tomorrow I start kickboxing--kind of a precursor to my ballet lessons in the fall, I hope.

Poodle, I like your answers a lot...

You reminded me of a bad 80's song.

Doing all three of those together would earn you spot on America's Got Talent! One spanish-singing, banjo-playing clogger coming up. :D
