ya know, Tootsie, I am beginning to think that they are "really that stupid"...
and filled with fear--it is amazing!

Think what could be accomplished if all this fear-driven energy was channeld into positive things like: finding a good solution to health care; a cure for cancer and all the other horrible diseases; helping to get clean water to the millions of people who do not have it; finding homes for homeless people; doing something about the horror of child labor...ending wars; and in the meantime helping families of deployed troops; providing whatever care veterans need without years of "red tape"; improving education for all children; choosing to take your "stuff" off the beach; when you leave for the day; having principles that will prevent sub-prime loans; supporting the president as an American first and a political advocate second or third...the list is endless. And, it is heartbreaking to me when I see where so much energy is placed these days.

You should have written "when socialist gets elected"...
Its hard to channel things into "positive" things when your healthcare is basically in the business of killing babies.

You know, I do wonder how much of it is directly related to fears about Obama doing something about gun control (which is a clearly a bizarre fear) and how much of it is due to fears related to the economy.

I often wonder whether people are actually buying guns to protect themselves from robbery or home invasion or just desperate people on a crime spree. There probably have been a lot more of these types of gun purchases. I know of at least a couple instances.

It's hard to say because Obama's election pretty much coincided with the economic downturn. I tend to believe more people are buying guns because they are worried about their safety, not because they think the government will prevent them from getting them later.

Sadly, they are buying the guns (and ammo until it runs out) out of fear/hysteria that the newly elected black president will take away their guns.

Words fail me when faced with that level of ignorance. At least buying guns because of the economy/concern for increased crime would have some logic - this is just stupidity and propaganda.
