Deadline for Filing was Feb 1 2009

wooo HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In doing a little background research the deadline for filing for this honor was Feb 1, 2009. So his nomination was made about two weeks after he was sworn in. So his Nomination application wasn't based on his Presidency, it must have been based on his Campaign "stuff", or maybe it was based on his 100 plus days in Congress, or maybe it was based on his days as a Community Organizer in Chicago. It has been reported that Nobel observers were shocked by the unexpected choice. (gasps were heard at the announcement) Can't resist this so am going for it, I wonder if there were any ACORN workers registering Nobel Prize voters. It's a joke folk. But it does make you wonder what they based this on....doesn't it. Yep it is a real wooo HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO moment!

I think everyone is surprised. I would think a prize of this caliber would carry more weight in action, but evidently his speeches have been powerful enough. So, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and Barack Obama are recipients.

Any other US Presidents receive this prestigious prize?

Right here!
I didn't realize the committee had an affirmative action policy on winning awards. Oh no wait, it was politics:

The committee wanted to be "far more daring" than in recent times and make an impact on global politics, said Kristian Berg Harpviken, director of the International Peace Research Institute.

This is just plain stupid.

wilson and rosevelt.....both progressives. just like jimmy carter, all gore and obama. obviously al was not prez.

this is proof without a doubt that this is the progressive peace prize.

in just under one year into his presidency he has inspired hope though. hope that giving a great speech can put you in the most powerful office in the world. hope that no matter how many times your wrong on military stradegy you can be vice president. hope that if you propose painting all rooftops world wide white one can be appointed energy czar. or hope that forced abortions or accusing whites of chemical pollution can get you a czar appointment.

wish i had more time....got to get back to work.

FACTBOX - U.S. presidents who won Nobel Peace Prize | World | Reuters

* Woodrow Wilson (took office March 4, 1913) won the 1919 prize in recognition of his Fourteen Points peace programme and work in achieving inclusion of the Covenant of the League of Nations in the 1919 Treaty of Versailles at the end of World War One. "The President succeeded in bringing a design for a fundamental law of humanity into present-day international politics," the Nobel Committee said.
* Theodore Roosevelt (took office September 14, 1901) won the 1906 prize for his role in ending the bloody 1905 war between two of the world's great powers, Japan and Russia. The result was the Treaty of Portsmouth signed by Russia and Japan on Sept. 5, 1905, at Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
