I MADE A MISTAKE IN THE TITLE OF THE THREAD IT IT WAS MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AS LUCIFER SAM POINTED OUT, SORRY FOR ANY CONFUSION.

California Schools Showing Students Video About Cross-Dressing - Bill O'Reilly | The O'Reilly Factor - FOXNews.com

That's the transcript from the O'reilly factor. There is a video I just don't know how to embed it correctly.

The parents were not notified ahead of time. I don't think elementary school is a good time to show this video. If you watch this video it doesn't even get any descent point across about tolerance. I can imagine the harsh jokes that would have come out of my 5th or 6th grade class after watching this video; and I will tell you those jokes are not very tolerant.

I thought they said middle and high school. Out there some of the students probably go to school as cross dressers. I'll bet cross-dressing is fairly ubiquitous on the streets of SF.

Guess in addition to the whole array of scare tactics, which includes the "race" card, and "scare the old folks" card , we now have the scare the "parents-of-the-kid card."

Conservatism has gotten politically very creative lately. :dunno:

I believe in the separation of church and state in schools and by all means the separation of social engineering (as Papa Bear put it) in public schools. Not to mention the way it is drawn, the huge "eunuchs" or whatever they are rubbing all over the little guy, showing him putting the bikini on in the dressing room - it takes the privacy out of the whole thing. It would be like if they showed a cartoon of two guys making out or something - just more info than needed. I would be equally disturbed if it was a video socially engineering kids to be heterosexual either. Just leave all that out of schools.

Give kids of SF some credit. If they see a guy dressed like a girl they probably don't give it a second thought and go on thinking about their problems with school, zits and relationships.

Bottom line - I think it is an inappropriate video to show in public schools.

O'Reilly needs to get a clue.

1) Part of school is sitting through dumb health class videos to teach you about tolerance, sex, anatomy, drugs etc.

The reason they show these videos is because kids AREN'T taught about it at home, or if they are, they are taught it is freaky and weird and to condemn it.

While cross-dressing may seem radical, I'd much rather watch this video than have to sit through "the Broadway cast of Annie talks about becoming a woman" again.

2) They DO have to spell out stuff like "don't fool around w/ your roommate in the room" because people really are that inconsiderate/dumb.

I used to give assertiveness lessons in college to help people actually stand up for their right to be in/use/access their room when their roommate wanted to hook up for hours.

So what? There isn't a law against disapproving of cross-dressing. People should be free to teach their morals to their own kids whether you approve of them or not.

As long as the parents and kids aren't breaking any laws, it's nobody else's business. It's a slippery slope when we start letting institutions make moral decisions for everyone.
