My wonderful Grandma, Italian of course, married my Papa John when she was sweet 16. She was a devout churchgoing Catholic all of her life, they were hard working farmers... Grandma was one of those who lived to serve others and gave all she had to make sure everyone had what they needed when they needed it. She was such a great lady and family matriarch. and she cussed like a pucking sailer. she left no word out of her colorful vocabulary - but never for hurting anyone. except Papa John who she constantly threatened to hang by his nutchies. oh, and she could cook like crazy. She gave us a fantastic childhood and frequently took us grandkids to Mardi Gras. She thought the strip joints were absolutely hilarious as we kids sat on Papa John's shoulders peering in to see what we could see. Oh, and her favorite thing to do, besides going to church (she owned the back row) was gamble... casinos and football. She once won $1000 on a Bama game when were at the Sugar Bowl in Nola... that cab driver got the tip of his life after the game...
