what about this old saying:
even a blind "hawg" can find an acorn now and again.
It's "even a blind squirrel can find a nut sometimes" and "even a blind hawg can find a truffle".
not in Alabama! always a "blind hawg" and an "acorn"

Trust me - "truffle" was not part of the vocabulary in any way, shape or form... but "Akeeern" worked perfectly. this expression had me rolling on the floor more than once. these buddies would also never utter most of the above expressions. they had a whole bunch of their very own. wish I could remember more. I'll have to ask Leigh Ann, my sidekick in those Tuscaloosa days.
