Seems like those puple flags are hanging around. Is it still jellies. Only 64 days until we return to paradise. Surely somebody has some new pics.

I will inform the leader of the jellyfish of your itinerary and insist that his factions make other arrangements for that time frame. ;-)

Come on down! The weather's fine, and all will be beautiful for your visit!

You're always welcome to ignore the flags and just step on the jellies. As they are Man-O-Wars coming in, I try to avoid them as their sting is far worse than the Nettles.

PMOW common to the SWBeaches?

Are the Portugese man of war jellyfish common to the SW beaches, or more common "this time" of year?

I believe it is cyclical. Kurt started another thread with a lot of info on these critters.

I understand that the purple "marine organisms" flag is not there for jelly fish, but for sharks. It is, after all, cobia season. I have heard reports from surfer and stand-up board friends of seeing a lot of sharks off the beach. I believe they are there year-round, actually.

Sharks are not considered marine pests and do not get purple flags. The flags are up right now for Portugese Man-Of-War but not many have been seen.

Is the plural Portugese Men-Of-War? Mans-Of-War? Where did that name come from anyhow?
