Bin Laden was killed. Why am I not feeling such great joy? I see people on TV jumping for joy, but I don't feel that same extreme joy. I'm glad he isn't leading the terrorists, but someone else will jump in his shoes, quickly and terrorism will continue.
"Justice is served," someone said, but I ask, "Is it really?" Our freedoms have been restricted because of the terrorism of 9/11 and thousands of innocent people have died in the process of targeting Bin Laden. We also lost more American soldiers since this war started than died on 9/11, with thousands more wounded. Justice? not really. One leader's death doesn't equate to thousands of lives. The symbol of justice is the scales. The scales will never be balanced from all of this death.
President Obama is to be given credit for ordering this attack when it was obvious that it was risky and might be subject to failure. That said, it was obviously magnificently carried out and our Navy Seals are a special breed. But, personally I was already aware of that fact as I worked for one for years. Congratulations to our President and our military for a job well done.
AndyA, very gracious of you.
Palin's reaction to the news, posted on Facebook, lacked any reference -- let alone thanks -- to President Obama. I can still hear her quote from her VP acceptance speech:
“al-Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophical harm on America and he is worried that someone won't read them their rights”.
("he" being native-born presidential candidate Barack Obama)
